The correct way to think about snapshots and diffs when it comes to cherry-picking and rebasing is to realise that diffs are always derived from snapshots. I.e. the fundamental data-structure is the snapshot and from those we can build diff

No it's not - firstly, you can go to JPL's version of the story here and see how they lead with the same headline: https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/nasas-mars-helicopter-survives... But I prefer to hear it direc

There is no perfect solution to this problem, however, people in general - even those who enforce the law - tend to be flexible. The situation described in the article describes a person who was badly treated by Uber drivers and would proba

Exactly. As the article says: > In 2014, The National Federation of the Blind in the US sued the ride-sharing app over guide-dog regulations. > The case was settled in 2017 when Uber agreed to ensure its drivers knew they were legally

Are you claiming the fake Arab News story was created by accident? No, it was deliberate misinformation intended to generate views and attention. There is nothing predictable about it beyond the fact it is shitty behaviour.

Wow, I just found this while searching for another thread that was inspired by the same Sebastian Lague video and I'm really glad I found this - it looks amazing and thanks for making it available on github.

This is super interesting. I've actually been looking for a way to render 100,000s of points in an animation similar to these so I will definitely take a look at using shaders now.

Thanks - I think that does explain some of the potential area of confusion. However, I don't agree that the BBC's explanation differs from what the true meaning is according to this Scientific American article says. The BBC articl

This article seems to agree that 3 sigma simply means "1 in 1000 possibility the result is a coincidence". I'm not sure what difference removing the word "statistical" makes here or why the BBC explanation is wrong.

According to wikipedia [1], the marginal cost of a SpaceX Raptor engine was $1m in 2019 and is targed to eventually be only $250k. Could anyone with more information explain why there is such a large cost discrepancy between the SpaceX and

You can buy cheap digital calipers for just £5 on ebay these days. Big Clive did a tear down of some that he found and found they were pretty good except for the fact that the digital circuit drains the battery even when it's off: htt

Good question. The ERC20 spec defines only what methods a contract should implement. It does not specify how those methods should be implemented. To have a transfer function that doesn't actually transfer any balance is perfectly valid

This is an amazingly well done video. I love not only the on-point criticism of the UI but the demonstrations of the suggested improvements really drive the points home.

You don't need your email set up on someone else's PC in order to log into a service which uses passwordless login. You only need access to your email from some device - not necessarily the device which you want to log in with.

Could you explain why? Is it because a log-in request essentially looks exactly the same as a "forgot password" request and is likely to slip under the radar of someone monitoring for suspicious activity?

As other's have stated, it's possible that SafariBookmarksSyncAgent has a process that regularly writes to memory (object creation and garbage collection) and that memory is being paged to disk.

I don't think ChrisLTD is excluding the possibility of a bug - he is just asking how it's possible that a process has written so much to disk.
