This is completely obvious and I am surprised that they had to write a paper about it but with $100m investments in vector databases I guess it needed to be officially said. For those companies to be successful they will have to also become

OMG they fixed the ctrl/Fn problem. I literally returned a Dell laptop because the ctrl key was on the left edge and the useless unprogrammable Fn key was in ctrls rightful spot. Edit: Wait. Now I'm not sure what you want. Ya'

It sounds like it is brute force comparison so I imagine any approximate solution will be a lot faster. I have a similar brute force search library in Rust. Though I didn't find Rayon to be great (at the time).

If you define emissions as basically equivalent to money you are bound to see a correlation. Original article: https://journals.plos.org/climate/article?id=10.1371/journal...

I was talking to a founder of a battery company the other day and he said "there are two kinds of moving parts in your iphone, the buttons and the battery". The lithium literally moves from side to side as it charges and discharge

These reasons are why Snowflake is building hybrid tables (under the Unistore umbrella). Those tables keep recent data in an operational store and historical data in their typical data warehouse storage systems. Best of both worlds. Still i

Basically you ignore a bunch of the work done for async, callbaks, etc and go back to making a new "thread" and handling a request.

This is so irrelevant. There is no need at this point to scan real people to make fake people. The entire thing is a term to be negotiated and let the union win one.

You can do it in any database as long as the corpus is small. But, yes for large numbers of vectors doing a brute force search doesn't scale well. https://devblogs.microsoft.com/azure-sql/vector-similarity-s...

Bricked things can't be unbricked (unless it wasn't actually bricked to begin with and was misdiagnosed). That is why it is called bricked.

Pure vector databases are a dead end. Almost every search engine (Vespa, Elastic, etc) and every database (Postgres, SQLite, Redis, etc) already has a solution for searching vectors in addition to everything else you need to query or search

If you have auto-complete it can see what table you are using and complete the column names. Starting with SELECT it could be any column in the database.
