To me, light roasts taste like somebody squeezed half a lemon into my cup of coffee. That bright floral/citrus flavor is something I absolutely do not want in my morning brew. I crave that slightly bitter, heavy body, chocolate/nu

Tmux will not pass along the OSC52 escape sequence unless you set a terminal-overrides with “Ms” to let it know your terminal supports it.

OSC52 works for me in nested tmux sessions over SSH, and in TUI Emacs. Like that article mentioned, you need to explicitly tell tmux that your terminal supports OSC52.

I was surprised that this was a real thing when I stumbled upon the r/overemployed subreddit. Not sure how many of the folks who self-report their success in doing this are LARPers, but it's remarkable that anyone gets away with t

Direct I/O is notoriously finicky. Depending on what filesystem you're using there are apparently alignment restrictions and other corner cases to think about. I don't think it's that `dd` isn't good with Direct I&#

In the bad old Linux days, if you read a huge amount of data off the disk (like if you were doing a backup) Linux would try to take all that data and jam it in the page cache. This would push out all the useful stuff in your cache, and some

I don't use `fd` on the command line because I have very ingrained `find` muscle memory, but it's really made using `projectile-find-file` in Emacs totally usable with the huge monorepos I deal with at work. The same goes for `rg`

Most of the time I can get what I need with gron and traditional UNIX tools, without needing to reach for jq, and without having to re-learn its somewhat arcane syntax.

Have you actually tried that? I know the server _can_ expose a TCP socket but it's not clear to me if it's intended to work across machines.

Hard disagree. Sometimes the terminal is the most efficient way to run Emacs on a machine in a remote data center that has a mountain of CPUs, GPUs, memory, and disk. TRAMP can be slow and inefficient. A LSP server process on a huge monorep

A couple things about the content of this post, that people aren't talking about. Mastering Emacs by Mickey Petersen is a solid book on Emacs and a good companion to the official manual. Mickey usually has an update to Mastering Emacs

This trick gave me some pretty bad pain in my left hand after a month or so. Remapping control to CAPS LOCK worked for me for years, but what really helped was when I switched to a keyboard that had six keys on each thumb cluster, which all

Yes, Emacs can run very well under tmux on a powerful remote host. I do lots of development that way every day at work. It does take some configuration, and it really helps to have a modern terminal emulator (I use iTerm2 on macOS). Here ar

These are the same developers who want a good out-of-the-box experience. It seems to me that lsp-ui is meant to replicate the features of VSCode, it's not surprising the same developers want to make it easy to install language servers.
