As far as I can tell they didn’t correct for alcohol consumption of fathers post-conception. All those effects could be the result of “alcoholic” father figures, right? What am I missing here?

There are orders of magnitude fewer people playing with large (>40B) parameter models than the small ones, which means even fewer people finetuning those models. I can’t imagine this is anything but selection bias.

They compare them because Haskell is probably the most famous language with a function currying syntax. That is pretty much where the similarities end though.

What is this “unified memory” you speak of? Modern supercomputers are just a bunch of computers with a (very) high speed interconnect. As far as I’m aware, pretty much every multi node job on a supercomputer uses MPI to communicate, and th

This whole discussion seems to be summed up as “premature optimization is the root of all evil, and using anything but a csprng is a premature performance optimization” There doesn’t seem to be any good non-performance reasons to use a regu

One way to think of this is that there are always multiple ways to break up the units when moving a system of equations into matrix form. What I’m trying to say is that there is always one way to break up the units that leads to matrices a

Interesting article... though to be honest, I'm not sure I buy the premise. In the article, he states: "Let's call the matrix of all (xi 1) `X` and let's call the vector of all yi `Y`", and then states that the unit

Part of the problem is that nix takes an opposite stance from where python seems to be heading… Poetry, pipenv, etc are all about building dependency tree solvers into python package management.. so if you have package a that depends on pac

The Prius has better visibility, and thus is unlikely to run into a pedestrian. A large truck/SUV can’t see anything shorter than like 4 feet that is right in front of it… so it is more likely to kill someone just because it can’t see

The downside of those is that they a) don’t actually create a very sharp edge, but instead create a “toothy” edge that can’t push cut, but can slice decently, and b) remove a lot of material, and thus shorten the life of the knife.
