Octave seems great since it’s open and let’s you run Matlab scripts. A bit offf topic, but is Matlab relevant still? I’ve heard it’s still in use a lot, but what’s the benefit of going with a walled off proprietary $$$ tool when you can use

A bit off topic, but I’d love to see something like Wikipedia references added to YouTube in some way. Being able to cite something at a point of video would be awsome. Sounds like it might be sorta impossible tho

I don’t know how to phrase this and it might be a bit of a ramble, but your reply is something I’ve been thinking about with atom. I personally hated eclipse, due to it feeling constantly like everything was it’s own package and not really

sigh well it looks like I’ll be jumping ship to Joplin this weekend. I’ve honestly lost hope in Evernote and just kept using it out of laziness to migrate, but I don’t like what the future holds.

Just a list of tools that have this, in case you use any of them and didn’t know: Vim - has this with undo tree Emacs - has this as well Jetbrains - IDE’s have this with local history they show changes made. VScode has this I’m pretty sure

I think there’s quite a lot of options for static webpages now though. Would GitHub pages not be perfect for this?

Not the person you asked, but for me it’s the social aspect. I can’t stand being on a camera, voice and text chat don’t really replace the in-person conversations for me. Everything else is either the same or much worse working in person.

Wow, I’ll have to remember that. I always am fumbling to get to an http site to redirect when I go on the train or somewhere.

Honestly this is my experience as well, they “just work” till they just don’t work. Than getting either the Apple or Microsoft product to work is usually hours of time wasted. I guess you could say the same about open source or systems like

Take a look at Joplin, it had a WYIWYG editor and normal editor. It’s like an open source Evernote.

My understanding was you had to either not allow connections from that country to access your site or have some version that doesn’t track them. Your probably not at risk for anything, as your using googles service, but I’m not a lawyer. I’

I get where they’re coming from, but this just sounds insane. If there were FOSS CPU microcode that could replace it or something and they only wanted to support that than fine, but if there’s no FOSS option why create security risks for us

For me it really depends on how much I smoke and what the task is. If I’m trying to learn new tech and implement something new I’m weed dosnt help. If it’s coding in a language I already know beyond the absolute basics and I smoke a reasona

Ya I’m a little confused, why is this thing $400 for something that doesn’t even work? Is the target audience developers who want to develop drivers and stuff for this? If so shouldn’t it be as cheap as possible? I don’t see the point in tr

This reminds me of what I read about Nicotine and how it was thought to prevent Alzheimer's, but I believe it was just the fact those smoking tobacco had a lower chance to live to the age to be diagnosed or develop it.

Nice example, the problem with the article is the client(teacher) doesn’t know what they want in this case. It’s a good example of how feature creep and project scoping is important but if all you really want is a script to log urls that’s

Emacs org-mode allows taking notes and having code blocks you can execute in the notes. As someone who doesn’t use emacs though, I personally would love to see something like that with markdown/latex/notebooks. I guess you can alr

I feel like this is the benefit of a web app, you can just simply open it without having to go through download process etc. Just being able to open a link and get started or try it out is the best part.

I feel like once you’ve worked on a few projects the desire to “reinvent” the wheel is quickly destroyed. The main thing they never teach in school and you really can’t understand until your doing it is maintenance. Projects are like a bala

I agree, you need a manager, but through my limited experience I feel as though the issue is developers are mostly detached from the buisness end of things. When things go wrong or some issue occurs I've always had managers step in to

I don't think sublime really compares to IDE's like vscode and jetbrains products. It sorta is in just the text editing realm similar to vim and emacs. Sure it can do more but I feel like it's not fair to compare it. That sai
