For the record, I know what "hubris" means, it's the candidates that don't. This may say something sad about the level of liberal arts education among developers. Now that I think about it, this also may say something about the candidates a

I "stole" this question from a friend, who may not have invented it either but cultural/language barriers aside [1] I'll often ask something like: * Larry Wall wrote "We will encourage you to develop the three great virtues of a programmer:

That's a bit of a strawman, I'm pretty sure that's not what I said. This much I know: an absolute right to privacy does not apply to children. Like you I mean this in the ethical sense: there are (IMO) beyond doubt cases where it is ethical

I'm not sure if this comment is quite appropriate on this thread (as it is a borderline commercial offer and quite possibly off-topic for the OP's question), but I think your model is interesting and I'd love to know a little more. 1) Is yo

I often ask for feedback during the interview. If I'm interested in a position, I'll typically ask the hiring manager what reservations or concerns she may have about hiring me. Factual errors aside I make it a point not to debate those c

I wish I could see and possibly review sites without handing over my email address. I'd like to be able to explore the kinds of sites that are posted and possibly the kinds of feedback they are getting before creating an account. (Also, wha

Also, that guy running the drill was flown in from Afghanistan, right? I suspect he is likely to be a government contractor (capitalist/state partnership) and was probably brought back on military flight.

Of course that is unreasonable. I don't think it was meant to be taken literally, but as advice recommending that as a suspect or person of interest one generally shouldn't assume that law enforcement folks are on your side. (I have a lot o
