Whenever code is removed from the Java standard library it is announced ages ahead of time and then typically it becomes available in a separate artefact so you can still use it if you depended on it.

We could get away with having separate tablets for us adults and for the kids. But having full profile support would be extremely huge.

IME, the suffering of bad performing code is mostly secondary. It increases compute costs. Mostly because requiring more beefy VMs than strictly required which is still benign and possibly more cost-efficient than spending more engineering

For sleeping on their back. Our youngest daughter would not sleep on her back. She still sleeps on her tummy with arms folded under her. The only way she sleeps otherwise is in the car seat when properly exhausted. Put her to bed and she

You don’t have to install docker desktop. The cli can be installed via homebrew. (Co)Lima, podman, or others, can be used to create a VM running the docker engine. It’s just that Docker Desktop makes it easy and also provides other integr

We use iPads interchangeably. All personal apps like banking are on phones. Some apps that only I would use such as for the roomba and car are on both. Having profiles for the kids however would be nice though. But most apps have that built

The logic outlined in other posts is that this is because software is seen as an asset that nets dividend. As such, like with houses you can’t deduct all the costs at once because you keep extracting value out of it. I’m not sure whether I

I have it set to 2 by default which helps but can also be annoying on fresh posts as unmoderated posts are also hidden. And then if there is a +2 post it totally only makes sense in the context of the tree so now I’m manually unfolding the

Given that keys probably need to be shared between multiple gateway/ingresses, how common is it to just use some HSM or another mechanism of exchanging the keys with all the instances? The acme client doesn’t have to run on the servers

It reminds me more of flat buffers though. Does protobuf also have zero allocation (beyond initial ingestion) and no pointer jumps?

I accept that there are two teams for reasons that include IP. However, Nvidia must have the same problem and they appear not to be hamstrung by it. So what is the difference?

Besides the memory savings, would there also be performance gains? More actors would now fit in a cache line.

Yes that was the “second” one I was referring to. We just piggyback on the Prometheus metrics provided by cadvisor for the container level metrics. Then for the jvm we collect metrics such as memory allocation etc. This all goes into a big

Yes. Or for a sufficiently long duration. Some things like allocation rate and significantly worse performance are obvious and can be seen in shorter runs.

We solve that partially by running the base state and the delta version through concurrently. This way most types of impact will impact both at the same time. This gives us the relative delta between versions. Other than that, just like alw

Where do these 1600 trackers even come from? Does every text writer add their own in the CMS? Is it not managed centrally? Or does every web component load their own flavour? I didn’t even know there were 1600 different distinct trackers ar

Is that including or excluding write off? If you have to replace the hardware every 3 years then it would be equivalent. IIRC hardware is replaced every 3-5 years because otherwise it is out of support.

I tried this in Fedora 38 or 39 if memory serves. I am coming from docker files which give me a concise view of what services I’m configuring and how. The process of converting these tools into a (bunch of?) quadlets is where I got stuck. A

I wanted to use quadlets and tried podlets as well since I wanted to try staying close to the RH paradigm. The experience coming from docker compose (on top of podman) was horrendous. It became a rabbit hole of trying with different flags,
