If you don’t know at compile time what the type of the value is that is returned, how do you know whether the remainder of the expression is still correct? The choice is either to have a total function that will be able to deal with every t

It is interesting for AMD because having a on-par ARM chip means they can keep selling chips when the rest of the market switch to ARM. This is largely driven by Apple and by the cloud providers wanting more efficient higher density chips.

Exactly, understanding correctness of the code. But also understanding of a codebase what its purpose is and what it should be doing. Add to that how the codebase is layed out. By adding more cruft the details fade away in the background ma

Telemetry for me is table stakes. We have been doing forms of tracing (first home grown) since 2012. Strictly speaking only the edge gateway needs to know about it. Tracing is trivial to add with OTel. It is trivial with Spring Boot (since

Yes that is how you arrange how the device can be reached through Tailscale. What I was wondering was: In order to get the device to talk to Tailscale to be able to reach it you need to give it access to the internet to reach Tailscale. But

It depends. Mostly it is choosing the right base image architecture. For rust and golang we can trivially cross compile and just plunk the binary in the appropriate base image. For JVM based apps it is the same because we just need to have

Keeping these kind of management devices off the Internet seems prudent. But how do you do that and still get Tailscale to work? Assign the device to a separate vlan that is restricted to only talk to Tailscale? Otherwise, if the device is

Okay I get the desire of not wanting to do repetitive stuff. It appears doing this with an llm scratches your itch. Before the same - focusing on the intrinsic complexity instead of the accidental - could be achieved by using libraries, too

Alternatively you can setup a vpn with rules that automatically enable vpn when you try to connect to specific addresses. Works with Tailscale and on-demand VPN for me. This will work with any IP webcam.

Better yet. Just use the trace id for the message. That id is correlated with all log statements already and it will allow you to in one go follow the whole flow of the user without setting up another per-request flow lookup table.

You can run the controller locally or from the cloud. When it is running locally you have the option to tunnel to it through the cloud. It runs completely locally. AFAICT, the controller is needed for fast roaming of clients.

Should we be adding massive sources of heat (datacenters) to regions that can easily passively cool them? It sounds like that would be somewhere around the Arctics. These are already seeing record high temperatures both in winter and summer
