It's funny, I actually like the design of the site. It holds up well to the test of time. A lot of newer sites could learn from this. Aside from the 640x480 site design it's perfectly modern. As they say, Simplicity is the height of sophist

Do you have any links to his comments? I agree with him (Most ruby "hackers" couldn't write a single line of code for an F1 car), and feel they also don't have enough soft skills, I'd like to see his view on the matter.

For a time you could simply buy your way to a knighthood. At least for the last 50 years they've been an almost entirely political construction, recommended by the government and rubber stamped by the queen. The Victoria Cross and George cr

That is the real issue here. People aren't exposed to these ideas and we keep reinventing them, poorly. Worse, people don't listen to the older more experienced people until after they've already blown themselves up (often more than once).

That was a function of the bureaucracy and legal requirements around the projects, not Ada the language. If you legally have to have a meeting with 10 people to review and physically sign off on every line of code, your project will probabl

It's funny how every single one of those features he's wanted has existed in a usable language since at least the 80's. Hell, Ada has every single feature he wants plus more. I'm particularly fond of the range feature. type degrees is r

This is the cool stuff. I could care less about building a RESTful social widget interface. I couldn't care more about building a system to land men 300Kmiles away on a rock with a computer with less horsepower than your digital watch.

No. I went to school with someone who now works at Facebook. To describe him as "most talented" at anything would be a mistake. However, he did have no regard for others or their work.

They're smart enough to milk the non-technical low end user. There's a lot more of them than there are the power-users. So for their revenue stream of constantly revolving low-end users not changing much is the right thing to do.
