I was thinking the same thing. I'll admit that I'm out of the loop when it comes to slack but I've heard they don't support IRC. Seems too bad to me as IRC would make a great platform for all bots rather than just for on

Question: did Goldman have a fiduciary responsibility to it's clients to _not_ sell them securities that they wanted to buy? It's easy to blame the banks but don't forget that the people who were buying this crap were being p

GS cracks down hard on leaks. There's a fake Twitter account called GSElevator which pretends to be tweets of things over-heard in the elevator at Goldman Sachs. Goldman has since banned talking in elevators. They don't play.

What's the performance of Elixir been like for you? We're looking into it because of the actor concuttrncy model which we think will be much more performant than our current ruby or clojure solutions.

I don't really consider technical debt to be about things that make the code base harder to reason about (unreasonable?). That is an important architectural point but I think of it as orthogonal to technical debt. To me, technical debt

I'm with you except for wanting type errors. I like ducktyping and in coffeescript -- I know, I'm not cool -- you get the existential operator `?` which makes ducktyping really nice. I really think the problem with javascript real

Do you have pull cords on all of your lights or switches on the wall? Controlling lights, etc... via IP is a natural progression. Yeah, early adopters are weird but you're crazy if you think this is just a fad for control freaks.

I do think that's a different issue but I'm with you that the assumption that poor people will spend money on drugs or alcohol is pretty far off base. After all, aren't most people in the US forced into debt because of health

Not really. The lottery is split up among the winners. When there is a big pot, you get proportionally more people playing the lotto. So, the expected payout to one individual actually drops as the payout rises.

I was going to make a similar comment (i.e. lotteries are a tax on people who are bad at math) but I don't think that's entirely the case. My feeling is that it's more about desperation than calculation.
