Yeah but GE isn’t in the business of collecting personal data about you and selling it. Google business is data not jet engines

Think of it the other way, if Lockheed martin were to start a Gmail, GDocs equivalent tomorrow, would you use their services knowing how closely they work with the military? Would global users be comfortable using it? The whole PRISM fiasco

That's crazy. Their net income is almost the same as Google's with 1/3rd the number of employees. I am surprised that they have 25k employees now, wow!

Wow you're either a Google employee or huge fanboy. Every single one of your comments is pro-google/anti-apple.

I would say Google is the new Microsoft of the 2000s now. From what I hear from friends, it’s very slow moving and filled with empire building leaders like Microsoft had. Amazon is really commendable in this aspect. Culture really does make

Which makes me think of it would be prudent for the government or military to invest in this tech as well. Companies like Northrop Grumman while being bureaucratic nightmares, take safety pretty seriously.

Ah TIL, with their factories being in Shenzhen, I thought they were HQ’ed there. This still doesn’t rule out government strong arming though.

MSFT should go the other way of Google now and offer full data privacy guarantees(I guess they still have a big Bing Ads business though). That being said, It's scary how big these MegaCorps have gotten.

Wow, so they've raised close to $1bn so far! Wonder how many of these delivery services like Doordash, Postmates, Grubhub, Caviar, Uber eats etc will survive the next economic downturn.

Yes please, can we please get @boulos to tell us how GCP can be seemingly used to solve this architects problem here? AWS has clearly failed!

Ah, I see your point. Basically, fragment the power of the existing population as much as possible by increasing heterogeneity within it. Seems like the only solution against this is an eventual educated population that despite it's cu

Thanks for the detailed comment. But could you go into a bit more detail about how the elite actually benefit from factions within a large nation? Like with an example taking today's elite into account.

That doesn't sound like a good habit to have in this industry, things change and software evolves. Android's first few versions sucked..a lot for instance. Heck, most the of the early versions of OSS suck. Are you saying there sho

And I'm totally stoked to learn that Scott Guthrie has been promoted to take Satya's place. Both of you guys are awesome! Now when are you going to open up C#, CLR and buy Xamarin ;)?

I heard Scott is already pretty high up in the ladder and reports to Satya today. I hope he takes over Satya's position and heads the Cloud and developer efforts though.

My 2 cents would be: open up C# and the CLR. Buy Xamarin and work towards a ubiquitous platform.
