That's exactly what they describe as the cause of the bug. They intended for the function to be idempotent but it wasn't because of a misunderstanding with the Python library spec.

I'm actually not sure. In a side project I'm building with React, we have been using jQuery (Zepto, actually) for XHR only and it would be nice to get rid of it completely.

Yes, it's an alternative to the view portion of Ember (and Angular). If you're already using one of those then it probably doesn't make sense to use React in conjunction with them but React does play well with Backbone models, collections

React does have a little overlap with jQuery but probably not as much as it might appear. jQuery isn't designed for writing components declaratively and then checking what's changed so it wouldn't simplify the React code much at all. (Plus,

The most confusing thing to me about this page was the changing provider names. I was looking at the page and could tell that something was changing but it took me about 15 seconds to figure out what it was.

IIRC, Dropbox uses Crocodoc for their online PDF previews. Might get awkward. It's a shame, since Crocodoc seemed way better than anything else out there for doing HTML5 previews.

I don't think that's true. There were a handful of competing libraries (Prototype.js, Mootools, etc) and jQuery won out because people seemed to prefer its API.
