For DS and algos, formally proving properties of things would definitely be considerd an academic activity.

I don't get why it would include so much math but no discrete or proof based stuff. Was it a degree in computer engineering instead?

This would lead to incredible toxic situations. If I want to apply to 5 companies and all 5 have 1, but different questions that I could learn in a week. Would you considser it would be more efficient for any party for me to learn this in a
