BT doesn't own Telecity I suspect that if they did it wouldn't have happened. And BT pays out around 3% dividend to its owners which is not excessive a lot of BT's detractors have an axe to grind (Sky, Murdoch and Virgin) and

The IBM wasn't cheap when it came out - when comapared to a PET or Apple ][ I recall working on a Grey Import IBP Pc in the UK - Our electronics shop built an inverter to convert 240v to 110.

Well if you exercise you replace fat with muscle which is denser - Though when I did 15 miles a day on a bike commuting I lost a stone in a couple of weeks so the statement that exercise does not lead to weight loss is bollocks.

I think your missing the point that big data commodity systems are not the $199 pc's ypou buy at walmart. For hadoop a comodity box is a dual xenon white box with 192G of ram plus infiniband networking kit.

Try getting a mortgage on a property with a short lease <60 Years it can be hard and expensive to extend the lease to make it practicabel.

Huh it's normal in the UK to be paid for being on call and than paid at a higher rates for any time at BT it was 4 hours minimum for any call 1.5 1.72 (after 8 pm) and double time and a day on Sunday.

Its the difference between a £250,000k Job and a £10k one ogh and coordinating 50-70 different lease holder to pay their share. Even more extream if your looking at a listed building - which I did when I was looking at buying a ex alms hous

I expect most employers in the anglosaxon legal system have those terms in all employment contracts - as it goes back to the Master and Servant Acts (as amended)
