Made the mistake of suggesting a bootcamp to an unemployed relative. She passed the initial screening/interview stage but really seemed to be struggling with the prerequisite material. The bootcamp didn't seem to care and kept try

Unless you work for a FAANG, in fintech, or some other company where raises and bonuses are a real thing these reviews tend to be useless. A lot of managers are busy and just throw something together at the last minute, subordinates realize

His nationality is Zambian but he's Indian....not from one of the local ethnic tribes. With that context I don't think there was any ulterior motive mentioning his nationality.

Isn't the risk here that they find out what your real base was in the background check and rescind the offer? I have been honest up until this point and feel that I have been anchored by my base pay at least two times. Still got 5 figu

This. Have been attending meetings for about 2 months and have given 4-5 table topic speeches. Give my first prepared speech next week. Definitely can tell I'm getting better just by having to do it repeatedly.

Do you even have to disclose that you were laid off? Why not just say you took time off to travel or something? Or just say that assignment/job ended and you are looking for new opportunities without going into further detail? I know

Do you have any advice on finding service providers or contractors? It seems like it's mostly word of mouth but people with dependable providers/contractors don't want to lose them to other landlords or developers.

At least these projects were engineer driven and open source. It's not really unusual for projects to be abandoned or fail based off of some faulty forecasting by sales or product.

When is the last time you updated your resume somewhere? A recent upload could get you 50 VM/emails a day, no exaggeration. I'm almost 5 years out from the last job search with almost nothing on my linked and 15-20 contacts a wee

My 2002 Civic with 250k+ miles on it had free service done on it maybe 3-4 years ago as part of a recall. The fact that a platform that old had enough cars still registered on the road is usually a good sign for that specific platform even

Yup I value bonuses at $0 during negotiation. A few times companies have tried to low ball a counter on the base by promising an increase in bonus percentage. No thanks

You are getting taken advantage of. Start looking at other companies and DO NOT disclose your current salary during negotiation. Your salary could double and you still might be a bargain in NYC.
