One thing that surprised me in the interview was the fact that Patrick went with a sole-proprietorship model. When I started my B2B service as a side project, I went crazy looking at all the possible angles (a business suing you for a bug c

I have not yet used it because as others pointed out I rely heavily on SQL Server 2005/8 to use Linq To SQL in my solutions. Even if I can host the application on a linux box, I still need a windows box to put the DB server on. However, I'v

Having a similar product (well somewhat) in the market it is great to see that there is quite a bit of interest in the market. I particularly liked the use of outsourcing part of your post. It is very obvious that the dream of one-man-shop

Honestly, I think that is the best approach. Because the market is so broad, it will be hard to reach out to everyone based on company size. I am currently focusing on 2 segments incidentally one of them is dentists the other is accountants

Yep, totally agreed. I will look into different email newsletters. In the mean time like I replied on another comment, the service is not for a specific vertical. It's more of a shared IT kind of service that targets very small businesses (

The niche are 1-2 people service firms that work with clients on a schedule. So this is more of an infrastructure utility for a specific type of company rather than an entire vertical. For cold calling did you use a firm to do this?

This is a great idea! I really think this has potential, but one thing I'd suggest is to pick a vertical and enhance the system further. Because if all you do is integration between two existing services, barrier of entry is pretty low. I'd

If you are in an environment where there is decaf coffee I suggest mixing half caf/half decaf. You cannot really taste the decaf and get in half the caffeine, although it's not a real fix, it should help a little :)

I agree with the caffeine comment. Believe it or not there is a balance when it comes to coffee. Having a cup of tea/coffee every day is not the same as having a cup every 2 hours. As in everything, it is not strictly an on/off switch. Othe
