I seriously doubt it. Trying to figure out what a person values may be important in an interview. But I think it's more likely apple has just decided that optimizing the last 5/10k doesn't matter because people will still wa

Absolutely, mutual funds and all investments assume some level of risk because to keep it in cash means losing money to inflation. There would be way smaller and more risk averse pool of investment capital if the dollar were deflationary.

that may have been the case 5 years ago, but i think technical literacy has gone up, and anything ending in .com .net or .org will be recognized as a website. Most people under 30 would recognize any name.tld as well since twitter use has

Pretty sick, chrome makes it clear that silent updates can definitely be a good thing if used appropriately. Compare to the sad new version adoption rates for pretty much all microsoft products.

Haha, that would be so awesome. Presumably buffet is betting that you're going to take a lesser cash prize to avoid the risk of losing in the final 4. But at that point, if the buyout offer is huge but you are still +ev to stay in, yo

That's because all their posts get downvoted. I still don't think bitcoin is a good currency and will probably fail in the long term, but it has enough momentum at this point that there's no productive discussion to be had.

It's interesting to see the meteoric rise of objective-c due to apple forcing it down developer throats. As someone who had to learn it to do iPhone dev, I find it objectively terrible compared to all the old favorites(C,C++,Java,C#).

What are you talking about. I assure you we get a lot done at the office doing x86 coding in hex, and even more in MIPS due to the simpler instruction set.

I came to a similar conclusion when programming using a hex editor and the x86 instruction set manual. Without having to clutter my mind with the abstractions other languages introduce I found I had a ton of free memory to reason about my

Usually not. A handful of indie games become big hits and make the creators lots of money. A small number of games do reasonably well and can fund a tiny studio for a year or two. The large majority of indie games fail to turn a profit.

Is there an easy way to get the compiler to show what padding it's using for a structure? (other than filling the structure with marker values then dumping the data and picking through it with a hex editor)
