Tech: deploy as a VM. For starters, allow the client to configure the VM network interface before downloading it. (On the fly, mount the VM with qemu nbd or whatever and write to the image, unmount qemu-nbd and proceed with the download req

I can tell you right away that it would be of huge help when reading a new language especially in a new script. And who are biggest set of users that might benefit from this? (clue: they haven't said their first words yet).

Statement from a Slashdot post about the AlphaGo victory: "We know now that we don't need any big new breakthroughs to get to true AI" That is completely, utterly, ridiculously wrong. As I've said in previous statements:

Seriously. I recall proving that there is one and only one circle that can be drawn through 3 distinct points on a Euclidean plane. This "theorem" can be thought of as a corollary of that.

Unless you have a background in solid mechanics, this is difficult to explain. On the outset, there are different failures possible, tensile, warping, etc. Under a load distribution, a structure would fail at some point depending on the int

That is what I meant. I wanted to point out that sqrt is more expensive compared to squared and you could just square the whole thing without affecting the results too much. cos(theta) and cos^2(theta) are pretty close and monotonous betwee

I am not thinking this through but since cos is monotonous between 0 and pi/2, you can avoid the square root by squaring the numerator and still have a good similarity indicator. This is going to eke out some performance with a short t

Dimples on golf balls help in inducing turbulence, not the other way. Turbulence in this case reduces drag significantly. This is a well known counter intuitive result in flu mech.
