Please correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't really get fixed width in anyway do you? Because unicode itself is not fixed width. There are situations where one character on the screen is represented by two consecutive unicode cod

I agree with every point you make. But I bet reality has counters for them all. In line with the author, I've found that inexplicable behavior may result from stupidity or ignorance, but much more often there is something you don

To me, rent just seems like a form of dividend payment, which is of course not unique to property ownership.

I never understood why real estate would be such a good investment. If one house is good, why not 100 as part of an REIT?

To me, the answer to the actual question is so obviously "no", that I was almost confused. It's as though someone asked me, "which direction is the floor?" Anything that easy must have a trick. So I though maybe it

Does that mean it should be possible to just have the link be "subscription"?

Forgive my ignorance, but I don't know what what it means to connect "across the channel", but it sounds important. Do you know a link that explains the concept? I've failed to Google it.

My little backwater hometown in Maine raged with ideas like this in the seventies, just before I entered the world. One or two families still live in buildings of similar feel. But most got normal walls with plumbing and lots of TV's o

This seems analogous to "The Market for Lemons"* The proprietor of a small business has a very hard time judging the competence of a designer/developer even for simple jobs. * http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/

I've heard of that scenario, but I'm curious about what the best way to produce a bug-for-bug replacement would be. Should you do it right, and then put a layer in front of it that switches/transforms the output to match the

I thought somewhat of the opposite. They're not partners unless they have equity. And if he has a great deal of equity, and the company is valuable, his own salary may be less significant than buy-out or IPO money.

What you are saying makes a lot of sense. However, I often used that philosophy in my five years of teaching high school math/physics and found that most students had a very hard time transitioning into the symbolic versions of things.

I don't understand why you'd want to minimize profit just because of tax liability. Even if I paid 60% in taxes, I'd still be better off keeping 40% of a higher salary. What's the rational?
