Because it's there. Whatever is there, people will push it to do things it wasn't designed for. Any they'll push so hard it will actually work.

Could that be fixed by having certain keys from the middle of a standard keyboard appear on the inner side of both haves of a split one? Or actually... Could we just use two keyboards?

There is infinite arm-chair teaching going on regarding coding/programming/computer science right now. If anyone is tempted to do more, fine. But please, please, read up on what people actually doing it have discovered. Reality

It's funny, when I was learning Git, it was the first source control system I'd ever used, but most of the tutorials were for people switching. So all the (justified) emphasis to forget all I know about VCSs was just baffling for

I use Git because everyone else does. And I'm not ashamed of that; I think it's pragmatic. However, I think I would prefer if the crowd had converged on Mercurial instead.

Why do people care about screen readers? Is it because they are good people and want to make sure sight-impaired visitors are able to access their content? Or is it because they have contracts that require 508 compliance?

I may be using words incorrectly, and I'm not positive you can even make the distinction, and I am happy to stand corrected, but it always seemed to me that CSS was fine for style , but terrible for layout . So I think I'm agree

Yes yes yes. I find that I often have to work backward from a tortured spec to figure out what they are actually trying to get done, so that I can then work out a solution and eventually implementation. And clients have never complained whe

I hear you, and I think you make a very good point. But from my own experience failing to do so, I can say that teaching high school well is spectacularly difficult. And if you are not good at the underlying classroom management and people

If we were able to buy at their local price, we would have effectively merged two formerly separate markets. And the now one market price would likely be much higher. To my layman's knowledge, it would be analogous to building a cana

Take as given that under condition X all people can exhibit Y behavior. It does not necessarily follow that a particular person can exhibit Y behavior only under condition X.

I think you'd have to put lights everywhere the camera might look. With lights on the user and a fixed camera, you just have to make sure the user doesn't move out of frame.

This Rift deeply excites me. But I wonder what time-scale we need to consider for this to be an intermediate step? That is, we're putting an interface on an interface here. Picture on eyeball. How long until we can mainline this stuff?
