This is insanely important. The goal of an operating system is to run applications. The installation and packaging of software should be as simple as possible. For whatever reason, the Linux desktop community does not see this as an issue.

I suggest you also check out Bernay's book propaganda. It's not an easy read (simply, because you have read through bullshit), but it's fairly important that people understand the media that targets them. Quick Google shows a
