I never understood the stuff of calling you on weekends or during vacation. Just don't pick up? If confronted, you can claim you didn't see it because unknown numbers are automatically silenced. I've never seen a business tha

How else can an employer decide who to give a raise to or not? What prevents everyone from asking for a raise? I think the employer-employee relationship, especially when it comes to salary, is inherently antagonistic because our interests

I think the first thing I struggle with in this worldview is that companies don't think about roles as "how much value" they bring to the business. If they did, most ICs would be paid far more highly. But since employees nego

The thing is, for a junior engineer, this is not that bad of an idea. I don't think that it should be part of a formal performance process, but if you're green and aren't putting out enough PRs, it suggests you're either

Life expectancy of those in the bottom has gotten quite close to those at the top. Horowitz may have 100000x the amount of money, but he won't live even 2x as long as your average American (or global citizen). https://ourwor

Do you know anyone from these states? I know a bunch of folks and your characterization is inaccurate -- the talent that you have accessible from non-"premium" US markets is generally also not as good as what you'd find in NY

Offshoring is nothing new, it's been happening for at least a decade in earnest, of course far more for manufacturing. Even if you just count since the start of the pandemic, companies have now had 3.5 years to figure this out. Where i

Not really accurate to say that other countries have "fixed" these with laws, many never had them in the first place. Car dependence in particular was never really a problem in Europe since the cities were already there way before
