The point was made that, in one course, they're already learning JS/HTML/CSS and the full MEAN stack. Adding on the requirement that it work in each browser is just too much, especially when you consider how you'd want

Only works if there's a carrot. Netflix does this too, and we always use it because (1) it always asks you up front and (2) if we use the wrong user we'll destroy our recommendations.

The difference might be that outage is down for all, disruption might be down for 50%.

Yeah that's how we do it. Group customer by language, sort by count.

No, this is less helpful. Everybody knows this, yet still a lot of us use facebook. It's nice to know what the specific problems are.

We use Kotlin. Their JS transpiler stuff is still pretty new, though they are back to working on it post 1.0. If you use Kotlin, use the JVM - at least for now.

Windows does not run like crap on a i7/16gb. Win10 actually runs great on some 5+ year old laptop we use in the kitchen.

Salt and Sanctuary is basically Zelda II + Dark Souls (and a great game!)

But... why would they have a big payout? Is it because... they are effective?

For clarity, can you give an example of how to `npm install` an old version of lodash such that we get the old version of the lodash.d.ts?

You always have the option of running a local npm cache/registry. We do for npm and artifactory. Not exactly the same as vendoring dependencies, but it's a decent compromise in some situations.

We just signed a big deal with a Google subsidiary, and part of that deal required us to go through a third party penetration test (no code access).

This is a good idea. As another example, if I had to enter tracking IDs into some app to have a nice view of when my packages were coming I wouldn't do it. But gmail picks them from my email for free, so I use the app every day.

We reviewed both and went with Kotlin. Scala is not the obvious choice here in my opinion. Kotlin is a simpler language which is a huge benefit. https://kotlinlang.org/docs/reference/comparison-to-scala.ht...

Too lazy to work? Or the economy can only support 100k jobs when we have 100 million people? Eventually the latter will be true.

> Good documentation requires stability and consistency Or a good architecture, a decent generation system, and a bit of discipline to write out the non-obvious bits that can't be generated.

If it is on the employer to make a value judgement on your skills, then isn't it also up to the window shopper to make a value judgement on the merchandise?

The original Mario Kart did this with the strength of Powerups (and maybe speed as well?)

Heh. Man I'm glad I talked my VP down from the cliff. He honestly thought it was a Good Thing. I currently have 7 weeks off/year plus 10 holiday days. No way I'd take all of that with the unlimited plan.
