Funny how it is this exact blog post, every year, that really sets it in for me how fast the last year has gone by. Thanks for that, I guess.

Hm. I love Jira. I am the admin of my projects though, and get to actively work to make things simple for my team.

Same with their presentations at conferences. They hire really good people, pay them a ton (300k+), and fire them when they stop performing. It's a good way to get great people, if you can afford it.

1 month for each year served? That is common? I've heard 1 week per year is common. I have been with my company for almost 10 years. You're not really suggesting they'd pay me almost a year if they laid me off.

If that is bookmarking I'd be surprised. I'd bet it's instead the `site:` search modifier on Google.

But... if you don't test the code with actual reasonable data, how do you know it is correct? Seems weird to say a team was always hung up on ensuring the correctness of their code. I guess it depends on what you work on to an extent

I also learned to be succinct early in my career, when I emailed a VP a wordy mess and he gave me this important advice. Every word you type costs the company money, compounded by how many people see the email. Make your words count.

No.. Email is async communication, unlike Slack and chat software. I send an email when I expect it to be read in the next 24 hours, but I can give enough respect for the other person's time to let them choose when to read it.

So does go-guru allow you to navigate code in emacs or not? Being able to navigate the code (and refactor it, really) in the same place you are viewing it is a big win for me. At least in the other languages I care about.
