I think emissions are a different issue. Which is more _wasteful_? I would argue Bitcoin, and dangerously so, because its upper bound of potential energy usage is infinite. Coal, on the other hand, is not wasted (burning coal without using

I don't believe it does. The same phenomenon can occur with a renewable energy source. Remote renewable energy source (solar, hydro etc), not grid connected, could attract the same sort of Bitcoin mining system and even claim to be &#x

This is a tool (like ngrok, or inlets, or sish etc) for easily opening a port on your local computer to the public internet. So, for example, if you are hosting a web server locally on port 8080, you could ssh to a service like this, and th

unfortunately the 2gb RAM is the one thing I feel constrained by - I mostly use it with code-server and even the default TypeScript language server is a bit too much sometimes.

Hah, my example is exactly the example you listed. A single cpu, 2gb ram, fixed ip VPS for $30USD per year.

I live in an offshore jurisdiction. They have reputations - but 'tax efficiency' is just one factor of many. Others would be how stable the legal system is / how often do laws change / what regulations are optimised for

Having grown up religious, I used to think this way. In my family, I now see people coming up against real hardship, and because their purpose in life is so deeply rooted in religion, they don't know how to cope with things emotionally
