They're just following Apple's lead. When iPhone shipped, any time you emailed a photo it would append "Sent from my iPhone" to try to virally market. Same or at least similar slimey tactics

Not sure your point. You claimed "Nobody would install chrome on iOS even if they could". That is provably false by easily checkable usage metrics. Heck, You can just go to the App Store and see it's one of the top downloaded

Just guessing. * Cloudflare is giving you a "free" service - they'd like something in return. Seems reasonable to me * Paid customers are usually business that have different needs, on average, than free customers

Personally I'm happy to carve out an exception for game consoles. Other than play games I don't do anything essential to my life on my game consoles. On my phone though I bank, shop, book hotels, flights, make doctors appointments

You'd be wrong. One of six iOS users install Chrome. I do as I use 3 OSes and want all my stuff synced across them, something I can't do with Safari.

To play devil's advocate. Browsers exist to browse sites. Remove the ads and most of those sites disappear, removing the point of having a browser in the first place.. Not every site but plenty of extremely popular sites that people lo

Some iOS developer correct me if I'm wrong 1. Safari supports extensions 2. WebView, the thing most browsers on iOS are required to use in most places, does not directly support those same extensions. In other words, there is no simple

You seem to be under the impression that the government itself doesn't have the same problem. Government agencies often over bill, over budget. They have an incentive to pad everything and to never lower costs because their budget will

We need more of these stories. A week or two ago game engines came up where I see so many wanna-be indie devs effectively throw away their chance at shipping before running out of money by spending time making an engine instead of getting t

Not to take away from this game, but I had a friend who said he got lots of joy from Smule. IIRC it connects you with a random stranger, you can opt into having it auto-tune your voice, and you sing duets. It's been out for 14 years?

I gave the 1000x example because a single semi-truck can generally carry 240x what a horse can carry. A horse can carry 150-200lbs. A semi-truck can carry 42,000 to 48,000 pounds. The largest truck carries 2.2 million pounds or 11000x the h

This is effectively a claim that Mozillia, Apple, Google's developers are idiots and irresponsible and just accepted the fixes without checking them. That's a pretty strong claim which I think you'd have a hard time proving o
