Charles, Duracell sells new batteries for laptops. That is how I got a brand new battery for my Thinkpad x220. I just checked and they got batteries for iBook G4: https://www.duracelldirect.co.uk/laptop-notebook/apple&#

I don't have first hand experience with eReaders with pen digitizers. I've played with some devices owned by friends but I never had a device like that, which is quite odd considering I was a Apple Newton user, then iPAQ, and now

I know that the goodereader.com store has it and they ship world wide. I'm not affiliated with them and am considering buying one myself.

That sucks! Well, there are other notetaking e-ink devices out there which I hope are compliant with the GPL. ReMarkable is good for notetaking but I have heard it is not much use for actual reading. There is Supernote and Bouye Likebook wh

I've spent 16 years working for major niche publisher and am a bit addicted to eReaders. Every time threads like this appear here I see lots of people that have no idea that there is a whole world of devices outside Kindle and Amazon.

But my Surface Pro X can run Linux inside WSL2. Apps made arm32, arm64, and x86 32bits just works, both Windows and Linux terminal apps, or GUIs if I install an X11 Server. And I can install whatever application I want, and not what Apple a

What no one appears to be talking about is that the move to ARM might lead to computers that are less power-hungry thus freeing enough power for Apple to ship some of their nice LTE tech in macbooks without compromising battery life too muc

There are many, you're just not seeing them because they're probably out of your usual tech bubble. Check goodereader.com for their eReader reviews. They often review eReaders which are running Android with web browsers in it, rec

That is moving in the opposite direction of the recent trend... People are getting sick of silos and algorithmic timelines. Lot's my friends are moving back to RSS and feed aggregators, heck I'm building a RSS add-on.

Is Microsoft doing that because their store never took off? Probably yes. Should governments take a closer look into app stores? Absolutely yes, those games are rigged, monopolistic, and broken.

With Lua you can create environments and define exactly what functions and libraries that environment has access to, and then execute/load your configuration or data file into it. This way it can't have access to i/o or whate

In the case of Lua, you can load that data and configuration Lua files in a protected environment with access only to the functions you provide. This is a built-in feature and pattern that many people who are integrating Lua in their app fo

Lua has features to do just that. It is fairly easy for an app to load a protected environment around Lua source code and only expose what you need. You can clamp all forms of filesystem and hardware access and leave the user with only the

It is a chicken and egg problem. Many languages do not yet support Windows on ARM, so you can't rely on them to build stuff for the new platform. For example there is no official release of NodeJS, Python, Ruby, Perl, on the platform.

I don't know if you know but Firefox has native builds for Windows on ARM. You might want to give it a try. It is one of the reasons I was OK with buying the Surface Pro X, I was sure I'd have a good native browser.
