The amount of misconceptions and arbitrary decisions in that text are over the top.

Couple years ago, I wrote a commentary inspired by this post highlighting that there is a readly available HyperCard-like system called LiveCode. I went on to demonstrate the creation of the same project and some more. It is basically the s

I don't know about other vendors but as far as I can tell, Microsoft is the only vendor providing an aarch64 build of OpenJDK for Windows thus making it available to all those cute Windows on ARM machines.

I think I'm the minority that really values in-person events. The best experiences for me didn't happened by watching the talks and sessions, but in casual conversations in the corridors and common areas. This is very hard to repl

CGI still work great if you know your constraints and for whom you're building stuff. It is underrated alongside its cousins FCGI and SCGI. A ton of little tools work great as CGIs.

half the times people say something is impossible here on HN, what they're actually meaning is "it's not economically viable" or "doesn't make sense from a business perspective". It is not that that modula

I know, but making noise on bugzilla appears to be the only way to get people to notice stuff. Those other channels are too easy to ignore.

Instead of flocking here to complain, go to bugzilla at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1693028#c64 and complain there. Mozilla is not reading HN threads, you want something you need to reach out through bugzil

I enjoyed this article a lot (much like other articles by the OP). One aspect that made me smile is that they're impressed by how few processes are running when they run `ps x | wc -l` on their machine and see about 45 processes. I jus

I'm not an expert on this but Jails has a ton more features. You can replicate a docker-like workflow if you want, and there are some scripts to do exactly that. Just an example of something that I don't think you can do with dock

It really depends on what you define as text. Does it involve special notations such as math? Can it involve diagrams? If all you mean is prose, as writing sentences in whatever native language you speak, then I must respectfully disagree w

I live in central London, about 5 minutes away from Google HQ. Here on I can only get 10Mbps ADSL2+ connections. I ended using a mobile broadband modem for the whole house, at least it gets me up to 20Mbps. Now, before living here, I was li

As I mentioned. It is a toolkit. You can make it 0-based and then use it everywhere as zero based. You don't need to mix it. In my opinion, it is not worthy it. I just mentioned it to highlight that if you truly want that, you can do i

What I am arguing on the post is that there are many "flying boats" built with Lua already. There are batteries-included distros of Lua. They don't need to be official, and in my opinion they shouldn't be official.
