That's so true! I hadn't thought of that, but you're right.

I found this to be a poorly written article. The author let his emotions get the best of him and it shows.

Does that mean that the encoding of the browser visiting the page (or the server doing the scraping in this case) get ignored? I always thought it was the browser that set the encoding, come to think of it, not sure why I thought that.

You know I wasn't going to respond to your comment, but as someone who has seen people used as a mere piece of flesh to defuse landmines, I have to say you have no idea how lucky you are to live in a country where you were even able to

>How did this "deal" happen? Although no expert, I do know enough to possibly answer your question. This has been going on since the 60's and to some extend the Universal Postal Union goes back to 1863[1]. At the time, whe

You described what I kind of hope my future to look like, I'd love to live somewhere like that and commute/work remotely. Question: was it hard to get reliable internet out there? With the mountains and all.

That's a very sexist comment to assume all men are like that. Replace "men" with "women", and I'm sure you're also the first person to scream sexism.

Your question was being answered. You asked how, OP showed you how by showing you that you're likely doing it yourself. Unless you've never used a product from SF.

Thank you maxsilver, this is one of the most informative posts I've seen on HackerNews. Question, you said: This is usually a phone companies central office Are there risks involved with that? Like for example, they could start playing

I still have Prime, but I understand what you're saying. I might be in the minority here but I feel like Amazon still has better selection in products than Jet/Walmart/Target. I think if they want to succeed they need to have

Not OP but he's right, your statement is slightly misleading, not many people actually paid that (fewer than 10,000 households[1]). A good source as you asked for can be found here: [1] https://taxfoundation.org/taxes-r

If you search for NSA you can get some articles on how the agency operated before the internet madness. Very interesting to say the least. https://assassinationfiles.net/script/search.php?searchterms...

One way this could be partially solved is with better technology. Like a digital trashcan that analyzes your trash and alerts you/rejects your trash it if it's not sorted correctly, maybe tell you what item wasn't recyclable.

The same applies to public goods/services though. E.g. if you can afford the electricity (public utility) to mine bitcoins, should we not?

I don't know too much about bitcoin but am I reading this correctly that they had $60 million in ONE wallet? Wouldn't it be wise to have part of this money in several "offline" wallets or something?

This literally has nothing to do with what OP was saying. You took one word out of his entire point and decided to make a statement about that.

You might be the right person to ask: When I tried shadowsocks and enabled "proxy dns" in Firefox, every website became painfully slow. Is this simply because no DNS cache had been built?
