The logic etc that you're writing in the templates is in the backend language though? And it's all run on the backend.

Probably storing them in near plastic of the screen frame. Newer thinkpads (x270 etc) don't have it. Nor do macbooks.

If I need to call Rails services and methods from ERB, then it isn't frontend :) It's comparative to hiring a front-end and putting them to work on .php files. It's so far back in the past, that it becomes degrading, and you

The biggest build quality problem on it (and x230) is the top bar made of plastic, at the top of the back of the lid, for antennas. It's held so weakly that even a 10-20cm drop will break the plastic clips.

Some back end devs unwilling to learn React are planning to try it. However as I understand, it's using WebSocket. At my previous job, building a customer service view that used it solely for real time updates, I wouldn't use it f

Yeah, SPA approach would separate the frontend and backend conceptually to different microservices. Frontend is served separately off CDNs, backend isn't involved with it. When frontend team decides on a different framework/approa

Working in a Rails based startup that took the same approach as OP, then at one point understood that we need React in the frontend, and a few years later the development process is a pain: * Weird pockets of react everywhere (data-somethin

If the design for this didn't create negative reactions like this they would have probably considered the design a failure.

This feels a bit like counting the amount of coffee you drink when calculating carbon footprint, or a bit like code golf aiming for 1KB of executable size. Makes more sense to do the 80/20 approach, 20% of work to get 80% of results su

I've started to move from pre-ground Paulig (finnish brand) to grinding my own beans. Just while reading this post, drinking the left-over Paulig made me wonder if I have COVID. Very little smell and taste compared to freshly ground It

Greed is innate to humans and you can't even take it away with communism, people will still find a way to collect and hoard. The problem is the low interest rates from central banks flooding the economy with money.

I wouldn't obsess over the design of Apple's "Sign up with Apple" button, if the default darkmode just applies an inverted filter (inverting Google's and Facebook's logo in addition to the UI), and paddings and
