I understand your sentiment but human history has shown us that "being content being filthy rich" is short lived at best. It is a way of keeping score and even people who no longer need to work at all don't just want more mon

Curious: Does a policy of making these things non-transferable solve the issue?

I agree and think that HUGE whistle blower awards including up to re-location as part of Witness Protection Program would help a lot. There are people in bad personal situations that feel "trapped" but have the knowledge that th

I agree they are all choices and all have trade-offs. I was specifically speaking to the pain point of groceries on mass transit. You still have a "someone's else's schedule" problem on transit because when you want to g

I think this is a problem best served by scheduled delivery. The CO2 footprint from shared delivery of groceries is quite low. Also, you save time by just picking them up at the curb or in the lobby. It is one of the few win-win for deliver

For sure .. I've also found it helps if your hobbies involve others aren't solitary .. Even playing a MMO or FPS online is quite different than being in a board game group or kayak club .. Good luck!!!

It seems like that would only be viable if supply remains constrained. If they kept building for new hires plus a spare percentage, then holding tons of empty un-rentable properties seems like a bad return. It is a complicated question for

Why not just sell these houses with no restriction even at a market profit? If reasonably priced nice houses are required to attract talent, just solve that problem. Healthcare shouldn't be tied to employment, WWII is over. Housing sho

Most of us old timers have been there, done that. At some level, it never changes. It is VERY difficult for work to provide your true meaning in life. 95% of software is personal preference. Most code will be thrown away when priorities c

Totally agree. Two weeks for knowledge transfer should be it. Remember that most leadership view all engineers as replaceable cogs. Just wrap up what you can and loop others into the things that can't and move on with life. Big compani

A lot of this had bad fall through logic. Most times if a distinct place couldn't be geocoded, it would take the centroid of the parent object and use that as an estimate. So if you knew it was the US but couldn't find anything sp
