Yes. I just had an odd Interview a couple of weeks ago. We were looking for a contractor and interviewed someone. The location he gave was the middle of nowhere, British Columbia. Turns out though, I don’t live that far away from there.

Vision Service Plan. I don't mind calling them out because they were god-awful up and down the chain. They basically were IBM's lap dog and gave them a blank check on whatever IBM told them to buy.

As a heart attack. Guy was a trip. So many stories about that guy, many of them very disturbing. Even worst was the manager that let him get away with that shit. These were the days when technical managers weren't a thing. He had a

I was a very junior dev when I worked for a huge health insurance company, I was placed under a senior dev to learn JSP and Java Servlets using an internal app. I quickly ran through a book on JSP to prepare for the project. When I get the

Rest hours are also required in the US. However, trucks will stop almost anywhere - rest areas, off the the side of highway on-ramps, Walmart, etc. Now the trucks will have to find charging stations to rest, which will certainly impact th

I was helping a buddy with his car once. He bought a breaker bar from HF and it started to bend on the second wheel we used it on. Like, dude, you had one job...

Yes, OP is serious. I have to ask if you're serious. There was an extensive interview with an Australian ISIS recruiter in The Atlantic (I think) several years ago. The guy wholeheartedly believed he was doing good, and felt sadness

The front trunnion is the only thing anyone would have trouble with, IMO. It has to attach tightly to the barrel and withstand the explosion from firing. Somewhere on the internet is a forum post where someone took a shovel and made all th

A friend of mine needed a chainsaw to chop up a tree branch in her yard. She told her dad she was going to Harbor Freight to get one and he emphatically said, "NO" and bought her a decent one.

The thing about the AK is that it really was designed to be a cheap weapon to put in the hands of masses of soldiers. It gives large squads of soldiers the ability to spray-and-pray in devastating fashion. 7.62x39 tumbles pretty well and u

This is an honest question. Stop acting like asshat redditors with the downvotes. A downvote on this is not a no vote to the question.

It's more like redditors creeping in. The "downvote is not a disagree button" of reddiquette went out the window a looong time ago. People are fast to hit that button and the attitude is seeping in here, harming discourse.

You're leveraging historically bad pound/dollar conversion rates to get that figure. In general, US salaries are higher because of the lack of social services. $37k for a UK dev, I don't buy. I worked with Belgian devs, in

You're going to be shocked at prices these days. Paying some poor soul from some poverty stricken developing country, and expect them to be grateful for just a job, is an archaic notion. In Latin America, the price is near US levels

Not true according to my citation and others in the past. Looking at the Western states that over-represent, the Idaho, Arizona, and even Oregon have more in common with Texas than California/D.C. The PNW themselves deal with a vocal

Even WP didn't really get Reveal Codes on their own program right when they went to Windows. That tool is just way more appropriate for monospaced terminals instead of WYSIWYG.
