Right to get pissy at a customer question? Try explaining it to the customer instead of summarily dismissing it and asking the customer why they were asking. A couple of locations didn't survive COVID. With their crappy attitude, not

Slashdot also did a few things that allowed this to work. They limited how many votes you had. It made you think of whether something was Insightful, flamebait, or funny, etc. If you give people unlimited votes, 1) Would the bother to ca

Absolutely. My local and much beloved (by others) repair shop got really pissy when I started asking them if they participated in the authorized repair program. Why? Because the battery replacements always sucked. Sure they “covered” the

I was relocating from California to NY/NJ and packed in a bunch of interviews over one day. They were all startups, and the first two or three were great. Very professional companies and people. The last one, the guy was twenty minut

Wow, this strongly resonates with me, especially the tieback to Asian cultures. I was both told many times, and shown by example many times, that it was rude to put someone in awkward positions. I still carry that to this day in personal

That would assume there is a correlation between Alzheimer's and income. In some quick googling of studies, there appears to be. However, with often differing results from US vs. European studies (and studying different things like e

I finally was able to upgrade my 5-node P4/4GB cluster to an 8GB cluster these past few weeks. Took a mish-mash of vendors, but I'll finally be able to run more complicated Spark jobs.

My company is kind of unique and I just urge you to throughly research the company, culture, and situation. I'm a hybrid product/engineering manager, while everyone else is strictly product manager with engineering counterparts.

I view recruiters the same way as product managers. Most are terrible and cause more headaches than they solve, but a good one is worth their weight in gold. Full disclosure - I am a mediocre product manager. First PM role after 20 years

You're clear with no restrictions from about Downtown to North Lynnwood. Even then, as you approach Paine and SeaTac, you can fly with altitude restrictions (300, 200ft, etc). On the eastside along 405, permissible areas are even gre

No, you're right. HHVM was the 2nd iteration. I was thinking of the first project, which was for C++. Looking at wikipedia, that was called HPHPc.

I got the Bower Wilkins PX8 about 6 months ago and love it. I originally went with the PX8 over the Focal Bathys due to it being $100 cheaper than the Focal Bathys, more compact form factor, and the reportedly better noise cancellation. M

Stupid you're getting downvoted. Veterinarians have some of the highest suicide rates. They go into the field wanting to help animals but instead end up dealing with the worst in human owners.

My wife is a vet for a corporate owned hospital and our circle of friends are naturally very vet centric. They run the gamut from PE vets, corp vets, and private owners. We know GPS, specialists, dogs and cats only, large animal, exotics.
