Participating in a woman focused community is hopefully not a competition, so I don't see why the same considerations should apply.

Here are some ideas: lobste.rs has a invite system where a person who invites someone may potentially be kicked if the person they invite is a problem. See https://lobste.rs/about#invitations Organize a booth or representat

From the command 'cpuid' I believe the [XX]-[XX]-[XX] is: <extended family><family>-<extended model><model>->stepping id> Those values are all in the first few lines of output from 'cpuid'.

You're better off running a weekly SMART long test https://linux.die.net/man/5/smartd.conf and/or a periodic RAID check https://raid.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/RAID_Administration

The last thing you want to happen in a RAID is for all the drives to wear out simultaneously, so this could be a feature rather than a bug.

I still remember this problem. To my best knowledge nobody else has ever had data loss after a clean shutdown and no hardware problems. It sounded to me like it could have been the same problem as this person encountered: https://

[Disclaimer: I work at prgmr.com] You can install a custom OS. But it can be difficult to use an installer we don't provide right now because we only allow serial console access, not VNC. This means most installers won't work out

Yes, I also don't like the 'us vs. them' mentality a lot of women-focused groups seem to have. I really like your idea of rotating through different groups who are statistically underrepresented (not just women.)

I'm not sure why you wouldn't use smartd, which has sane defaults, can immediately alert based on arbitrary smart properties changing, and also handles scheduling smart tests. An arbitrary command can be run instead of sending ema

I'm not sure if anyone actually oversubscribes ram with Xen. But we (prgmr.com) still allow you to order PV VMs, mostly because NetBSD performance is abysmal in HVM mode.

Leaving selinux on would be more easy if the access denials were put in the primary system log and/or in dmesg and did not just go in the audit log. It takes too long to figure out what the problem is with selinux. That being said we l

Using paravirtualized devices is best practice, but a combination of PV and HVM ends up being faster for many operations - see http://www.brendangregg.com/blog/2014-05-07/what-color-is-yo... . Unfortunately HVM mo
