About a quarter of the company has signed the protest letter. I signed the letter just so people would stop nagging me to sign. I don’t care about ICE. I suspect there are others who got pressured into signing.

A good portion of GitHub’s employees live in Europe. Of the employees who live in America, most are citizens.

Have a look at GitHub. It's a similar service with unlimited private repos for free.

There are also people who aren’t capable of producing $15 of value in an hour. A $15 minimum wage means they are less likely to be employed.

I’m in the same boat as the person you replied to. In the past I’ve read arguments for and against anthropogenic climate change. Both were compelling to me when I read them. I’ve come to the conclusion that I just won’t understand the clima

I might agree with you that human rights are non-negotiable, but we're probably going to get into a fight when it comes time to list those human rights.

I'm talking about third-person pronoun, not second. Sentences like "They is in the office".

I had the same idea. I forgot about it before I was old enough to reason about it. At the time I thought the size of the mirrors would be the biggest issue. I guess I thought faster-than-light travel was easy.

That’s quite true. And thank you for also recognizing that my snark can’t be reasoned with.

I happen to agree with EFF on this, but even when I don’t agree with EFF, I appreciate that they are consistent on their pro-privacy stance. We need more organizations like EFF that are a consistent voice for one cause and aren’t swayed by

“and give up on my dream of being a tech billionaire? no thanks”. Also popular is “the bay area has one of the greatest collection of minds ever assembled in the history of the world”. If they are really that smart and money flows so freely

That may have been fine in 1500, but in modern, American english the phrase “they is” just makes you sound like an idiot.

That’s what surprises me about this. I see the StackExchange sites as a place where people help each other make their software a little less crappy. In all my years using it, I don’t think I’ve ever used a third person pronoun (gendered or

The other side in this case isn’t the far right. The other side are just ordinary people who don’t want to be called names for forgetting to use the right pronoun or even not using a pronoun at all.

That’s interesting. I’m an American who frequently talks to brits, and I’ve never picked up on the different meaning of quite. I’ll make a point to listen for that in the future.

Resign doesn’t really belong on this list. It isn’t an antonym of itself. Resign and resign are homographs with opposite(ish) meanings.

Terrific is my favorite autoantonym, but at this point the “terror causing” definition is little more than entomology trivia.

It’s also helpful from the other end. As a new contributor, I feel a lot more confident making a PR if there are tests and I can show I didn’t break them.
