Yeah it's definitely hard to learn another language when there are a lot of people who speak your language and you don't necessarily need to learn it to get by. I have a tip if you want German to feel a bit easier though, hop ov

In any HN discussion on housing there is inevitably a couple of people acting like you’re trying to build a krushchevka on their lawn. It’s like if we pretended all detached housing was like the infamous “groverhaus”[0]. The user you’re rep

I remember them from my recent (~2 yrs ago, wow) re-watch of TNG! Their strategy was to look helpless to trick bypassers into helping them out, since they were not clever enough to do engineering work etc themselves.

To be honest it didn't really achieve a great deal. The Murdoch papers still have a pretty heavy influence over British politics - they stuck with Boris long after he should've been done, it was only when they turned on him it tha

I understand that laws are weird and that you'd want to err on the side of caution. I don't understand that it's so easy to get someone's content taken down to the extent that (for example) a DMCA takedown request is a c

If I recall correctly there's a certain length videos need to be to get adverts or to be monetised - something like ~10 minutes. So while this one is a little bit played out (maybe this happens to get an extra set of ads in the middle)

If you follow thousands of people then maybe. But in that case you're going to miss tweets anyway, so if you've got way too many tweets buffered and you want to see more recent stuff you can opt to skip them.
