Anybody have any firsthand knowledge on how prevalent things like this happen? Seeing as how his company was acquired by LinkedIn, is he admitting this was his strategy?

Does google prefer certain domains over others? Ie .com over .info as a rule? If so I wonder how this plays into that.

What a screwed up system. Seemingly there should a vetting process where the court system determines a claim at least has merits before the defendant has to waste his/her resources fighting it. As it stands it is way too easy to use as a we

Also it appears that WhosHere launched in July 2008, so 2 years before your product appeared? Or is that incorrect? Regardless you should fight these dudes as I'm sure they would not relent to you in kind.

Somewhat unrelated, but I ask the legal experts here. If someone sues you for some bogus claim, is it possible to submit a written plain english rebuttal and have the court throw it out before it gets too serious? I mean if I sue some compa

A big organization not wanting projects written in Clojure, Scala, or other language of the month? Yeah I wouldn't either. If 99% of your coders know Java, and there's no compelling reason otherwise, go with Java.

Is there an easier way to clipboard a page bookmark rather than hovering around the border of the page until the "page bookmark" text appears and clicking? Also if I retroactively try and remove tags from a clip that fails. I can only add t

How did you guys where to place the cutoff between having a single application "page" vs having normal server-side rendered pages? It seems like you guys have somewhat of a mix here I'm just curious what percentage of the rendering is done

This is great advice for anybody who does iOS development. If you are creating a component that is only going to be used internally in your application, it's tempting to just slap it together without really thinking about it. In the long ru

I'm really curious how stuff like this gets to the top of HN? In my opinion this is simply a publicity stunt surrounding the interest of HN celebrities, and I wonder who thought this was such a good post? Personally I feel that way too many

Here is an idea of how you could change the site. * Content discovery pretty close to how you have it but with a better way to find local acts. I.e. a big read "Find Local" button. * Have an admin interface for musicians to put concert date

I'm looking for a logo and a landing page. I was hoping to find somewhere to vet designers and find price quotes and whatnot. Someone to work with in a more iterative fashion than perhaps 99Designs.

There is no "solution" per se. As I see it it's like this. Most people are paid with how much labor they provide. $X amount of hours worked equals $Y amount of money. Call these people Group A. Some are paid using a different scale in line
