I usually use a Kinesis Keyboard ( http://www.kinesis-ergo.com/images/kb_adv-blk720x471.jpg ) and a (rather customized) Emacs when I'm programming. I spend 90% of my programming time in front of my terminal - so it makes sense for me to opt

Rainbow tables are useless against any marginally modern crypto scheme (e.g., any that has a salt). I imagine a child pornographer (if they were using crypto at all) would likely use some simple off-the shelf software like Truecrypt - which

I made the foolish decision a while back to choose a data storage option based on benchmarks and hype, and I'm currently paying for it by having achieved spectacular launch failure and now completely rearchitecting my backend. Can I ask w

People have (severely) bounded rationality and don't continue the induction to its logical conclusion. As proof simply see the 'guess 2/3rds of the average' game ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guess_2/3_of_the_average ). As a quick summary:

I think Python 3 suffers from attempting to be compatible with Python 2. It should have been a clean break with major repairs and reconstruction, as the original Python 3000 was intended to be. Hang the expense, let's make this language _r

Technical founders who don’t sell also use bad proxies (”Harvard MBA!”) So, what's a better proxy for figuring out who a good business/sales co-founder is? (I ask as a tech guy with a Harvard MBA co-founder ;-))

As a non-ruby dev, it isn't obvious to me that I should grep 'Homme' instead of 'HommeController' ... A statically typed language with a good IDE (yes, like Java) will find almost all these errors for you as you type (excepting config file
