New subway lines have to connect into existing running subway lines. Digging the tunnels is usually the easy part, it's the points where they connect to things that is hard.

The problem is when people zoom in and "see" things in the JPEG compression artifacts. Also when they release the pic on Twitter in crappy form before they release it in uncompressed form.

I bet the scientists just hate that this stuff is shared on Twitter. They made a big deal that this was transmitted from New Horizons as a compressed image (to transmit it quickly) and then it gets mauled by Twitter's recompression to

You could go up to 4K video for $1500 or so. But that will only get you 4 1080p screens stitched together, so you can really only focus in on a quadrant.

True, if there was a vulnerability where reading a byte stream could trigger a JVM exploit, that is exploitable. But that would be a really weird bug, since the JVM isn't going to be the one parsing a byte stream.

Yeah, it's an odd stat. For instance, if someone new enters the phone market, and spends a ton of money and loses a LOT of money, the total profits for the industry go down, and if Apple makes the same dollar profit as the year before

Except that Android phones sell great, they just don't make much money for their makers.

All the money is in the flagship phones. If Apple has a good year for flagships (like finally releasing larger phones), and the others have a bad year (like the underwhelming Galaxy S5), Apple is going to make most of the money.

Generally the value proposition of these kind of services is that you can try to reproduce an issue that only shows up on a particular piece of hardware and OS. For instance, someone with iOS 7 on an iPhone 5, which you can't even buy

Not doing regular improvements is how you end up being years behind your competitors, without even noticing it, and having to do a huge rewrite just to achieve parity.

Apple is really just taking the low-hanging fruit of search results (like Wikipedia results and such) and "stealing" them from Google. I'm sure it is hurting Google a bit, but that's about it.

SF jumped 88% in one year according to these stats. That seems odd to me. Maybe since they only look at two weeks, and fairly far out, something messed up the stats.
