Do you think they just let anyone publish in a newspaper? Outside of cable access, you couldn't just hop on TV previously either. This is entirely a social media age problem. This isn't "OMG, we're censoring" it&#x

The "Big Platforms" used to be newspapers, and then TV.... there has always been editing and curation. Social Media actually was a huge "democratization" of the ability to give a very large voice to some very minority v

Common language is always needed - this is CDG, a large airport with many flights. It is important that all planes have situational awareness. If half are speaking French, how does the pilot coming from Seoul have situational awareness?

Not just deference. They crashed without ever declaring an emergency. Ultimately, ATC could have been better - but that was a pilot CRM issue.

I managed to get 1Gbps (minus overhead) with the Dell version of the display. But it is highly variable based on what else my CPU is doing, which is my experience broadly with USB ethernet.

Nope, I am very much not - but I believe the twitter algo biases opposing viewpoints on popular tweets. Go look a tweet from AOC, and then from Ted - the replies I see are almost all opposing views, not the most popular replies or anything

Panic rooms will never get cheap - except in new construction - though. Unlike cars, houses aren't replaced every 3-10 years. Retrofitting panic rooms will always be expensive - just like retrofitting airbags to a car without them (no

Those are not antonyms. I don't think most people would argue that Musk isn't a visionary. I also don't think most people would argue that Musk isn't divisive.

Calling that R&D is disingenuous. You can learn valuable things on your way to making stupidity, of course, but that's not R&D. Twitter does a fair amount of OSS, though I can't see a lot of contributions that probabilist

Not hard to believe - younger people make up the bulk of their audience, and probably the bulk of HN that trend more liberal. That's a reflection of the userbase though, not necessarily of Twitter or HN's views. I would bet mos
