A fair number of HN takes are snark and critique I think these days, it's a bit more reddit now? I think folks underestimate just HOW MUCH data google maps has and how many users it has, and the integration / scale is impressive p

They should have just billed you - they reversed the charges (for your own issue) and you aren't happy. I think folks are used to being pretty catered to. And yes, being able to play with 4TB databases in the cloud and huge GPU instanc

It's an easy way to do a config without a full importer and complexity in passing config around / looking it up. I like it. This goes way back. They give the example of a globalusings file. That's a cheap / easy way to d

Replace ".NET" with "Windows" maybe? AS a longtime original VB/Winforms developer - MS lost their mind on desktop development and didn't look back. They chased EVERY fad that could be chased. Silverlight, UPF,

I was an original iphone user, and have been hearing about how unrepairable and how battery can't be swapped since then. I'll believe the iphone is unrepairable when I see it. For those of your who suspect that these types of clai

The point is having separate eeproms, separate bios flash memory, separate storage controller in SSD drive etc etc - apple focuses very hard on NOT doing any of that. They are CONSTANTLY pushing down part counts. The claim that there is &qu

You are not in the business of shipping a million+ devices. * Any connector is a potential failure point. Generally with a connector you double the connection points (ie, SSD -> Connector -> now soldered to board). So if you are solde
