I work for an investment bank and we still upgrade COBOL to the new version every couple of years, surprisingly it's still actively maintained and getting updates. Sometimes I like to sit behind one of the mainframe grandpas and watch

I'd say getting a macbook or a macbook air would be worth it, but rather than spending that much on a mac mini I'd probably get one of those new ryzen mini-PCs like from Beelink or Minisforum. You could get something with a 7735HS

The VIM1S seems almost perfect for home use, too bad it's only got a 100mbit network interface. The Nanopi R6S is more interesting but the price is crazy, it's over 200 euro on Amazon. Then again, the raspberry pi is also over 150
