We raised out kids on mostly Dr Seuss. In particular I remember Go Dogs Go and Green Eggs and ham being their favorites... or was it my favorite? The part they liked the most was my being next to them reading the books, each day. I would

Purpose of a cover letter in tech, is to get your resume past the HR department. HR is notorious for not understanding tech. If your resume is the only one they get, then no need for a cover letter. If they get 100 applications then you

I do not like the 'give us your charge card and we will bill you'. As it requires me to remember to cancel. I see subscriptions as more of a scam as companies expect people to forget. Or have a hard time canceling. I recall one

I will need to try those yellowed glasses (as clip on of course). Wonder if this is why several countries in Europe have yellow head lights on their cars.

My alternative has been to shop other places. Best Buy and Walmart say thank you to Amazon. I am considering dropping Amazon Prime because it is of little value to me now.

Is this just an advertisement? Your account name is the same as the name of your business. You have 3 posts in 8 months, all of which reference your company.

Three things to be concerned about: 1) Current employer might pay you more, until they can find a replacement. So the wording is important. 2) Have a quantitative number in mind. They need to offer at least 100 for me to be happy. 90 I w

Surprisingly people often pay you what others are willing to pay you. Boring personal story: I was working at company A. I was worried about my future - boring work - not bleeding edge. It was my opinion right or wrong. I went looking for

IMHO any code that is not documented is "Throw away". The time it takes to understand what is does, how it does it, and its limits, usually exceed the time to rewrite with documentation. Further the company that has a lot of und

You really need to do a spreadsheet covering the monetary differences to validate the difference in pay. I personally do as such, and I include things like housing / food / transportation (need or own a car? Car insurance etc),

"Just kidding ..." I have been laid off twice. I have witnessed at least 20 layoffs. My first layoff they told us we were laid off in a month, and at that time they would set up a team to help with resumes and interview practice.

Find something out of town, better yet, out of county. I had one co-worker who found training on a cruise ship. I must admit I envied her finding it. It was relevant to her job and the company paid.

I agree completely. A smart boss, on finding you have another offer, should start looking for your replacement. And if a layoff happens, then she would be top of the list. That being said, when my boss found me looking for another job, sh
