Reminds me of a story: A guy was walking along the beach and found a lamp. Of course he rubs the lamp, and sure enough a genie appears. Genie: master of the lamp I can grant you a wish, you may wish for anything. Guy: Wait, isn't it s

A whole LOT of time, a whole lot of space. So estimate 1 minor good random mutation per 10,000 population. Assume 1 major mutation per 1000 years, per 10,000 population.

My dad was an aero space engineer, and I always had trouble with this. It is the speed you need to be going at, to not be pulled back by gravity. As a kid, I always thought, well big deal, if I am in a plane and just keep going up, eventu

If I am stuck on something, and that something is in your realm, either for understanding or providing, then I might be stuck and unproductive until you answer. e.g. I send you a message - I am trying to use 'xyzzy' which you prov

A few years ago it seemed like every tech book I was interested in was in Kindle Unlimited. One price, hard to beat. The first year I was happy. Year two seemed like almost nothing was on kindle unlimited. This third year, literally NOT

Congrats on the remission. Financial freedom is a tough goal to explain for a number of reason. Most notably because it is different for each person. Myself I have a family and I consider us rich. Never missed a rent payment, always enou

Quitting a paying job without a followup already, will cost your salary anywhere from 15 to 30% hit. That said, I have done the same twice. The first time I really just needed a break. I was classic burn out which is what yours sounds lik

I used to work for a company that had students come in for a few months. In most areas they were treated as glorified secretaries. In my group we were so short handed on developers that I had them do real work. In my time I had 10. 4 we

You cannot control the BS interview. I had the same type of interview, it was for C# and .Net. All the questions pertained to debugging SQL errors. LOL The interviewers were dicks, and after the interviewer I told their HR I was not inte

I believe the 'off by one' are called fence post errors. Building a fence, 50 feet, put a post every 10. How many fence posts do you need? Well 50 / 10 = 5 obviously :-)

Typically when I was the Team Lead, my boss had a business view and not a tech understanding. As such I became the voice of tech to business. Likewise I was the business voice to the techies. You will/should have a good understanding

Try to make the beginning part of the name unique. If you follow the Hungarian notation, put that at the end of the name not the beginning. Bad example strname, straddress, strphone. Better: namestr, addressstr, phonestr.
