My mind instantly darts to the combination of piping + pattern matching. Edge cases can live as two line adjustments in ways I don't know how to do in any other language.

Elixir has been my daily driver for four years, I came from a brief stint in Ruby. It's true that most problems are largely manageable by most/all languages. What I've come to appreciate is how often Elixir has made me a bett

The parent was sharing the book as a wonderful read and that you shouldn't be concerned about the title. My counter point was that while I enjoyed the book's results, the read/process was the polar opposite of wonderful. I fe

Counter point: I read that book this year. It definitely contributed towards resolving some unresolved childhood trauma, and I'm grateful for it, but it was no walk in the park.

Thought it was a gag on mobile. All I could see was: Google, Stack overflow, and GitHub. (the list is longer once expanded ;))

I'm not sure how much flexibility you have, but have you taken a look at Prometheus (for time series data) + Grafana (for dashboards) I'm certainly not a DB expert, but this is where a similar need led me a few months ago.

That would not surprise me at all. I've experienced several third party charging cables that somehow stop working so reliably immediately after an iOS update. Apple definitely wants as much of the pie as they can get.

So the Washington Post doesn't let their sports journalists vote for things like NBA All-Stars/All-NBA under the guise of impartiality, but they're perfectly ok with headlines that so very clearly attack Alexa's competit

It's the usual combination. Block size as much as makes sense, optimizations where possible, if lightning works (it won't) - use it. Gavin Andresen has published about his latest work 'Graphene' which shrinks block sizes

GB blocks are basically ready with today's hardware though the need is years out. It won't be long before TB blocks can say the same, testing is underway. Current prevailing theory in BCH land is the block size is an unnecessary

It's a collection of everybody who made Bitcoin great to begin with. Great community. I believe it's a bunch of doers and not talkers. Fees are less than a penny. System works great, like Bitcoin used to.

Any successful Lightning Network (at scale) would require a dramatic block size increase. The last (Lightning Network tech) I saw suggested it would need a 133MB blocksize. Blockstream struck down a modest increase to 2MB in November. The

Well, the circulation limit/deflationary part is pretty key to that. How many dollars/yen/what-have-you are printed every year leaving your existing dollars/yen/what-have-you with less buying power? Thinking the wo

My iPad recently quit being able to connect to the 5GHz channel. My Samsung S6 networking is also glitchy and often on cell service while at home. Timing aligns with me getting a Chromecast.

This is laughable. Technically BTC and BCH share a near identical codebase, save for the recent junk BCH had to remove. Larger BCH block size prevent transaction buildup that has caused the fees to go insane on the BTC side of the fence. Th

Bitcoin Cash has 8MB blocks today, 8x larger than Core. Core propaganda will decry this as lunacy since people won't be able to run nodes on raspberry pi's anymore. The sad reality is you can buy the hardware required for the cos

That's because the people who fell in love with Bitcoin pre-2014 see the world-changing potential in the project again. Bitcoin Core has killed any practical use cases by refusing to scale and causing $50 fees. Bitcoin Cash works today

And Segwit did not move the needle at all. The BTC chain is SCREAMING for more transaction capacity and the Blockstream team is popping champaign (sic) that they've introduced a fee system 100 years ahead of schedule. Bitcoin Cash is s
