I used MythTV extensively in the late 2000s to capture over the air (OTA) tv. My kids were young and it was a terrific way to capture tv shows for them (and for me when doing 2AM feedings). It's ability to identify and skip commercials

Darn Tough Socks. I'm sure many people have said this before in these threads. But they're well made and have a lifetime guarantee. Sure, $20 seems like a lot for one pair of socks, but not if you have them for life.

Great idea. Looks good. It's always great to develop something for your own use. Years ago I used a similar site: https://750words.com/

I'd say it's more a consequence of the need to put boundaries on the costs associated with developing the software. I've been in an internal development group where costs were not defined. We developed what the company needed

This certainly isn't going to be right for everyone, but I downloaded the docker container for searxng a week or two ago and I've been using that. It's not the best solution for most people, but I've been very happy usin

Those "other programmers" that are "harsh critics" are often ourselves. How many times have you (any programmer) looked at your own old code and thought, "what they hell was I thinking?" I can't count the

I believe it's the opposite. Every shared account increases my exposure as the user. If I have 500 accounts across 500 sites, and one is compromised, 499 are not. If I have 1 account across 500 sites, and that one account is compromise

Does your company culture expect immediate response? I like it because we treat it like short-form email, maybe with a slight expectation of quicker response. If I send you an email, it will have some detail and please get back to me within

Realizing there is no "perfect" helps. If you realize you'll never get there then you start to realize the diminishing returns the closer you try to approach.

Just an English clarification. The wording "the road indicated to them was actually mined" would typically be interpreted as 'They were pointed to a road which happened to be mined'. The interpretation of "indicated

2030 seems impossible to me. In NY, you might not be able to see the road surface at all due to snow. Curbs and other landmarks that are necessary for Waymo to work (they map _everything_) will be covered. Seems unlikely to account for all

What you say is absolutely true. But I will also say that most people have warped ideas of proper weight. Using myself as an example, I was 195 and felt like I was overweight but not obese. If only I could get down to 165 again I'd be

Correct. We use Flyway and have it setup through GitLab CI/CD pipelines. We used to have a bottleneck on one of two people with permissions. Now, if data needs to be pushed to the production system for some reason through a script, an

Is this any different from any new tech? The first car owners had to know a lot about taking care of that car. When I was young, you were expected to know how to do many regular maintenance tasks on your car and fix the simple things. Today
