It's an indictment of EA because many prominent EA people were associated with FTX/Sam. That shows poor judgement and, on some level, EA is about smart people making judgements about long-term good. How can we trust them to make t

I find comments like this irritating. If someone wants to say "I dropped acid and it helped me," fine. People are allowed to share personal experiences, though it's a mistake to universalize them. But this "oh you didn&#

Your summary of the paper is unfair. From one of the author's blog: > Recap: BsaI/BsmBI are particularly useful restriction enzymes to use if you wanted to study a bunch of chimeric coronaviruses like the close relatives of SAR

While it's true that there's no consensus on this topic, that doesn't imply that people can't make claims one way or the other. In fact, the claims that the essay makes (Platonism) are very commonly made.

Calling an argument "bad faith" means that argument's proponent doesn't believe it's true. I highly doubt that was the case with various people -- some of them doctors -- questioning the party line on the pandemic.

Stiff and theatrical are better descriptors. Or mannered and a bit stilted. I've only seen Breathless and A Band Apart. My sense is that Godard played a big part in transforming cinema from mannered to free-form. But I'd caution a
