The fact that Google needs to have Matrix explained to them is, frankly, appalling. I would expect an organization the size of Google would have someone there who's familiar with these not-uncommon federated networks. Or, you know, jus

Personally, I can get a SPA running in Elm without using Google. I have to Google react-router if I use React instead. But that isn't the value I'm getting from this thread. This post, along with the talk of interviewing and webap

Rocket is nice but I had a much, much better experience with Warp[0]. I ran into a lot of roadblocks with Rocket, especially with stuff like JWT and working with databases. No such issues with Warp. 0: https://github.com/sea

Unlike hearing a sound vs. just the pressure waves, data's form doesn't change when someone interacts with it. It's the same before and after. Sure, the pressure waves don't change, but it's the interaction with the

You can't setup webhooks in someone else's project, though. Polling (or the atom solution in the comment section[0]) lets you react to changes in any project. 0: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25903821

I cannot imagine horror of the precedent it would be set if H&K successfully sued AB over copyright infringement for names that are visible only to the player who entered them. Those names are not shown publicly.

I've had clients where this would get you told (in execuspeak) that the least important part of a project is the engineering and the engineering team. Which is of course why their sales people would answer every question with, "Ye

Great reply to this mindset. The chance that anyone who makes this claim has actually evaluated enough (or any) JS projects to see why they churn is effectively zero. We have version pinning for a reason. It lets churn exist without forcing

The biggest one I know of that's meant for your example use-case is Flattr but as you can tell by needing to ask, nobody's heard of it or really cares much about it anymore. These days it seems to be a bit more similar to Patreon.

That's really not a great comparison, especially since browser-based social media and browser-based chat services (e.g. Facebook and its chat) are what killed services like AOL/ICQ, before later moving into mobile apps. Pigdin was
