If the final identifier can't be reverse engineered to identify the specific individual is it PII? So A user visited me on the 12th. That user visited me again on the 15th. Is that PII?

This is true, but truly the customer's own benefits are being compromised here. They can obtain better effectiveness at lower prices and push their margins, but procurement policy is not something companies want to mess with too much.

This is so true. And big corporations push around smaller vendors to have so many compliances, insurance and other certifications in place, whereas larger vendors can get away with insane security and privacy lapses just because of legacy.

This is so true. I've seen some companies however who allow end user teams to spend a certain budget using their corporate credit cards. But nowadays IT security and privacy restrictions anyway make every damn purchase a 8 month projec

This is so true. The sheer administrative/legal effort and expense it takes smaller enterprise software vendors to execute a single sale is crazy. I'd happily offer lower prices if the process was easier.

But then why look at total per year. Calculate the cumulative total since the start of the industrial revolution. That number is relevant for the situation we're in today.

Point a is covered under GDPR. If you have German on your website their courts have jurisdiction. The language is so vague that they will have jurisdiction over all the world when it comes to PI privacy laws.

Security probably requires quite a bit of OSS on it. Lot's of proprietary software. There are a lot of penetration testing devices, not so many securing software.

Typically a ledger should be immutable. That's what retains its auditability. Any fudging/changing should be done through reverse entries that explain why the reversal occurs.

I agree Postgres is pretty awesome, but I think the one thing it has going against it is a good GUI client. MySQL has way too many good options wherease Postgres is stuck on this front.
