I've been working on distributed teams for over 2 years now. I very much prefer it and I find that personally I am more productive. I've also started a business with a parter who is remote. In 2 years we've only met twice. It helps that we

Same here. Wondering if it will throw up a notice when a particular tax reaches it's end point or if that is also broken.

Even better, come to Vancouver. You get SRED and no snow. Just rain.

Very cool. Like 99designs but a step further with the domain. The inventory isn't the most amazing, but I could still see hacking out a MVP on a couple over a weekend. Thanks for the link.

It's getting harder and harder to get brand-able .com domains. I think that it's a nice to have from an seo point of view but from a branding standpoint I prefer the shortest possible variation. If the TLD lends itself to that why not. You

It works now. Had to run: sudo chmod -R go+w /Library/Python/2.7/site-packages/ which is noted at the bottom of the readme and I missed it.

Very much enjoyed your story. I also moved to BC and started working from home. I did it for a few years and although I didn't have kids I also found reasons to go back to an office. I did this and within 6 months I realized I needed to be

Thank you windows 8 for "inspiring" a whole generation of designers to rip you off. In all seriousness, I've seen this same style concept for more then a few redesigns as of late. I fear for the design industry sometimes. I guess it's bette

Seriously? I live in Vancouver and used to live in Toronto. I don't know anyone who can live comfortably on that amount. Hell I couldn't even live comfortably on that in Nova Scotia. You must have some extreme couponing skillz or something

If you want to retire that early then a salary / comfortable job won't get you there. Especially if you are as young as you sound and are already requiring 6k a month. Your best option is to skip the degree and go for broke on the next big

Seems like it might touch on aspects of http://zapier.com which is a bit more of a mashup mentality but definitely allows you to combine multiple APIs to do interesting things.

I listen to a lot of UKF Dubstep mixes on Youtube. I generally like to listen to up beat electronic music that doesn't have a lot of words and having hour long mixes on Youtube is a convenient way to source a lot of content.

For me programming started as a means to an end. I am entrepreneurial and I realized the www was a frictionless distribution method for many great products and services. I was naturally curious about how things work so it was easy to learn

I would use this but I also think it needs to implement at very least the comments page view. Otherwise you might as well just stick to the browser. There are a lot of times I'll read comments before I read an article, so I could still find

I took on a very similar challenge in 2012 although I gave myself a year to do it mostly because I didn't have the benefit of market penetration to validate my idea before starting. Because I'm a developer I started with my idea, then went

I agree. You can't learn to use death clips without a little pain. I'm all for them on road riding or mellow XC rides, but some of my buddies started using them on full down hill tracks like in whistler BC. They swear by them and yes a lot

Articles like this become more and more important as more and more developers learn JS by way of frameworks like jQuery. If you want to understand "this". Understand call() and apply() first.

Which valley? Vancouver has a good market and a great lifestyle. Toronto has a great market, but only a good lifestyle. I started my career in Toronto but now I lean more towards lifestyle so I moved here to balance it out.

Grew up in a different "valley". The one in Nova Scotia, Canada. Got into computers because there was nothing else to do but tip cows. Moved to Vancover 4 years ago so I could ride downhill mountain bikes instead of tip cows. Love hacker
